They sent me this screener maybe a year ago, and I just now decided to sit down and watch it after reading some good things about it. The film was much better than I had anticipated, and I do think it translates to film very well and certainly had me drawn in from moment one.

I love when a movie can take simplicity and make it interesting, and The Hide does so with brilliant acting, dialogue atmosphere. And I am with you about MacQueen; he is quite good, and I can very much see him playing comedic roles as he does have a certain physicality about him that seems comedic.

Cortez: For some odd reason, I find that I watch most screeners on my computer, and I actually had trouble hearing the characters myself. However, I do have some bombastic headphones, so I just tossed those on and hearing them wasn't so much of a problem after that. It's too bad the screener comes like that; you would think it would be of better quality when you are out looking for good reviews! In any event, I hope you do get to check it out at some point. I think you would really like it.Matt-suzakahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16215962688591291944noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8235923248137948919.post-80966718478166644502012-01-31T20:58:06.440-05:002012-01-31T20:58:06.440-05:00My screener was crap as well and the dialogue was ...My screener was crap as well and the dialogue was hard for me to hear. Might have to blast it and revisit it as I wasn't able to get through all of it. I saw The Hide, quite by chance, a couple of years ago on TV and enjoyed it immensely. Sure, it's all a bit stagey (well, it WAS adapted from a play), but the claustrophobic tension never lets up. And I was genuinely surprised by the ending, too.
This was the first thing I can recall seeing Alex MacQueen in too, and I've loved him ever since; though I think he's known more for his comedy roles.
I'm genuinely pleased you enjoyed this so much Matt (shitty screener aside). ;)James Graceyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08968719719213071671noreply@blogger.com
